Slight leak noted from passenger front area with engine oil low 1 qt -top off oil and reset ; additionally check engine light o9n for a thermostat fault ( may have additional concerns as we did warranty last service visit; thermostat data does not reveal anything out of the ordinary with normal operating temperature present ; fuel tank vent system and purge air system minor leak WE DID CLEAR CHECK ENG LIGHT -PLEASE RETURN IF LIGHT COMES BACK ON as we will need further testing to isolate concerns

Following BMW diagnostic procedures, the first step was to update the engine control module (DME) software to the latest BMW factory calibration. Manufacturers periodically release software updates to improve how the control module monitors and operates emissions systems. Updating the software ensures the vehicle is operating with the most current programming and allows us to confirm whether the fault was caused by outdated calibration or an actual component issue.

Performed a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation of the engine cooling system to identify the source of coolant loss. A cooling system pressure test was conducted to simulate normal operating pressure and detect external leaks at the radiator, hoses, expansion tank, water pump, thermostat housing, heater core connections, and related components. Additionally, smoke testing was performed where applicable to help identify small or difficult-to-detect leaks within the cooling system. This process allows diagnostic smoke to safely escape from leak points, making seepage visible that may not appear during visual inspection or pressure testing alone.
